I just love photographing a baby in their own bedroom... it's so special to see all the work that mama put into making a beautiful haven for herself and her baby. I personally love spending time in my own son's nursery, looking at the photos on the wall and the gifts on the shelf... and so when I saw Jack's nursery, I knew we would do our photo session in there. Dad also requested some sports themed photos. This session was too much fun!

How lovely to meet Mr. Colbie at 1 week old. As you can tell in most of my shoots, I like to make newborn photos very personal to each individual family's interests. Colbie's daddy is a fire fighter and avid hockey player, so we incorporated both hobbies into his photos. Good thing he was a small newborn and didn't mind fitting into hockey and firefighter helmets;)
I always encourage parents to make their newborn shoots personal to their family interests, so I was thrilled when these parents suggested a Junior-Mountie themed shoot, since dad is a Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer. I absolutely loved doing this shoot (it could even be my all-time-favourite) for obvious reasons... who doesn't love a dad in uniform!
I met this beautiful family at Baby Love Market, and had the pleasure of doing their maternity session a month ago. They are so lucky to have 2 beautiful little sisters... and they are both gorgeous enough to get away with murder! This must be one of my favourite newborn sessions just because of all the lace, ruffles and bows... (sigh) how can you tell I want a girl!
I had forgotten to post the second half of this newborn session. As you can tell the previous photos were based on creativity. This half of the photo session was more traditional and tender:) I love both!
My husband played in a band with this dad a decade ago... (remember DOXA anyone?!) and although my husband barely touches his base, this dad has made a career out of drumming. He's started an amazing community for drummers online, check out Drumeo here. So I knew we had to incorporate his first drum-set into a few photos. This mama is also incredibly talented and crochets these beautiful owl hats, so I gathered a few things to do an equally cute photo shoot to showcase the baby in her knitted creation. Hope you enjoy! While Mama nursed the baby to sleep, I went downstairs to snap a couple pics of their older boy playing around on the electric drum kit (just thought I would post a couple since I think they are also precious!) Once the baby was asleep we captured these adorable little bird shots...
