I made this birth just in the nick of time... and I mean the nick! I had been texting with this mom all evening. I knew she was 4cm dilated and since this was her 4th, I wanted to get to the hospital as soon as possible, but it was 9pm at night, my husband was at a movie for at least another couple hours, my parents were camping, my sister at home caring for her sick baby, and the neighbour girl wasn't answering her phone... so I was left pacing the floor with my son soundly sleeping in his crib and no baby sitter. (For future clients reading this... this never happens, I promise!) Finally I got a call from the neighbour girl at 10:20. She just got off work and came straight to my house, I left my house at 10:35, arrived at the hospital at 10:50, hurried up to the maternity ward and the baby was born at 10:59!!!!! Yep, I literally walked in to capture the birth in the nick of time!!!
When I walked in, mom was in hands and knees position, working hard to get that baby out. Her support team was incredible. She had her midwife, mom, 2 best friends and cousin all loving her, cheering her on and supporting her... what a beautiful site to arrive upon. Apparently I wasn't the only one surprised at her quick progression, but her water only broke 5 minutes before my arrival kicking everything into high gear and fast! Here are a few of my favourites.
